07 Pacific Cup Finals comes to an end

By Alex Dodt
Western Capitals White win Squirt A in Double Overtime; Team Excalibur takes the Bantam AA Select title in OT; AKS Mulisha 94 and Mission Raiders also win championships.

It was a hectic final day of the 07 TPC Finals. 4 more champions were crowned. Here's how the last 4 divisions ended up working out...

Squirt A
Western Capitals White beat RBK Bulldogs 4-1 in the semifinals while Revision Devil Dogs knocked out Western Capitals Black 4-2 in the other semifinal, setting up a Capitals White-Devil Dogs championship bout. The game blew away any expectations as it went deep into overtime, until the Capitals knocked one home in the second OT to clinch the Squirt A championship.

Squirt AAA
The championship game in this division came down to a rematch between AKS Mission Mulisha 94 and Skeleton Crew. Mulisha won the 2 team's first matchup 6-2 and they would be even more dominant in the championship game, defeating Skeleton Crew 6-0, and winning Squirt AAA in convincing fashion.

Bantam AA Select
There was a ton of great competition in this division. Team X, one of the favorites to win the division, were knocked out by the RBK Bulldogs Black in the semifinals in a great game. Team Excalibur 91 cruised to the championship game without losing once, but they would not have it easy against RBK Bulldogs Black. The Bulldogs forced the game into OT, but Excalibur squashed the Bulldogs hopes and scored the sudden death winner to claim the Bantam AA Select cup.

Bantam AA Elite
One of the best games in this division came in the playoffs between RBK Bulldogs Red and AKS Mission 90. AKS' duo of Drew Yeoman and Morgan Sanchez nearly mounted a late comeback for AKS, but the sniping of Casey Escarcega was too much and the Bulldogs pulled out a great 5-4 win. Bulldogs Red would give the Mission Raiders a great run in the semifinals, but the Raiders came out on top 3-2 in what turned out to be the Raiders biggest challenge of the playoffs. The championship would match the Raiders against Western Capitals Red and Jim Irwin's Raiders proved to be too much to handle and they cruised to a 6-0 victory.

There were a ton of highlights over the past 2 weekends. We saw 12 playoff games go into overtime and had 5 championship games decided in sudden death OT, including the Squirt A Final which went into Double OT. There were upsets all over the place, teams who were dominant during the regular season coming up short at Finals, and of course there were too many games to even remember with teams battling back from behind to win games or force OT and increase the drama factor here at the 07 Finals. Basically, it was ridiculous. So much great hockey was played. It was fun, we'll see you next year and now for those you may have missed, here's the official list of your 2007 Pacific Cup champions.
